The Hostelling International collaborates with the governments and beneficient  organizations of all the countries in order to open the doors of the world to the tourism.  Together we foment the education and offer everybody the  chance to discover new cultures.

The  commercial entities also play an important role in our movement and benefit themselves with our ideology. While associating with us and supporting our work, they help to walk towards our objectives.

The  requirements of the modern life submit the young people to a always increasing  number of pressures of all type. The fight of the IYHF to reach its goals has never  so important than today and there has never been a moment to win and be successful. Due to its unique structure  and philosophy and also to itscommercial  partners from the governments and the young people, the IYHF nowadays is ready to achieve its objetives and keep the world doors open to the young peolpe.

Environmental rules

The Yhostesls makes efforts to foment among its associations, the environment conscience and tries to join methods of work in an  ecological context in order to promote environment preservation. The Yhostel federacy has established its goals based in the  seven following principles:

01- Conservation of the Energy

The Associations will control periodically the consumption of energy, since that  energy production is the root cause of the reduction of the natural resources, of  the global heating, of the acid rain and the climatic changes. Do waterever is possible to use the minimum of energy. The IYHF will make efforts to use renewable sources of energy and, if possible, will  support the  accomplishment of projects to this end.  

02- Recycling

The Associations will be committed to use, whenever its possible, partially or totally recycled products. The  garbage segregation such as paper, plastic, stacks, bottles and cans,  demonstrates to the yhostel users, our care with the use of the resources of our planet.  

03-Contamination

The Associations will adopt reasonable ways, between that it will count to the  aid  of the local authorities and other organisms, to reduce to the minimum the  contamination. The elimination of wastefulnesses, including the garbage basket,  will have to be efficient and acceptable of the ecological point of view.

04-Transport

The Associations will always foment the use of the public transports available. As alternative, it will be advised to the alberguistas that share its  automobile. All hostels must supply information about public transportation of the area. The use bicycle or going on foot will also be stimulated. With the aim to facilitate this objective, the hostels must  provide parking lots whenever it is possible.

05- Nature

The Associations will support the national formation of natural reserves, parks  and othe zones, with the specific end to offer habitat  for the animals and the plants. The  Associations will dedicate part of the land to the "wild garden",  whenever possible.

06- Environment Education

The Associations will provide  environment education in the hostels.

07-Consumo

The Associations must take into account environment factors when purchasing. There are lots of products that seem to be ecological. The local circumstances will be the ones that determine the greater or minor  importance of these products. The Associations must keep in touch with the  latest researchs about this

Whenever possible recycled paper must be used,  food  produced in the hostel garden,   suitable recycled construction materials  and try to use the  minimum amount of chemical products in  order to protect the  health and to guarantee the hygiene.
