Located at the northeast of the State, in the border Maranhao and Piauí state, it has 70% of its area in. Tutóia, Paolino Neves and Araioses are the  cities located nearby where tourism trips for the Delta can be arranged.

The Delta of the Parnaíba is the third bigger  oceanic delta of the world. Rare phenomenon of the nature that also occurs in  the river Nile in Africa and in Mekong in Vietnam. Its configuration is similar  to  an opened hand, where the fingers would represent the main affluents of  Parnaíba river. There they ramify forming a huge ecological sanctuary. White   sand, rivers, flora, fauna, dunes, lagoons and sea swim are some   attractions offered by the place.

Visiting the Delta, formed by Parnaíba river and its affluents it is an unforgetable experience. The  place is an ecological sanctuary with dunes, mangrooves, rivers and lots of   islands and small islands, inhabited by fishermen. The trip starts in  Carnaubeiras, 25 km from Araioses city. From there the trip is by boat on Parnaíba river waters. During the trip , it is  possible to see a bit of the fauna and flora  from the  region. Some stops are made along the way. There are some places with dunes,  lagoons  and palm trees that sometimes are similar to an oasis. Swimming in the sea and in the lagoons is really great.The rich biodiversity of the place offers excellent options for the  ecoturism lovers.
